Brand pages vs category reviews: what's the difference?

A brand page (for example Stake or bet365) is the complete guide to one platform: company and licence, every product it offers, payment methods and measured payout times, bonus structure and wagering logic, support results, and a verdict on who it suits. It is the page to read before you open an account.

A category review answers a narrower question: which of these platforms is best for this product? The poker review, for instance, ignores slot catalogues and weights traffic and rake instead. The same brand can therefore sit third overall and first in a category. The compare tables are the third view: no prose, just the facts in columns so you can filter on minimum deposit, KYC policy or licence.

How the ranking works

Each platform receives six sub-scores from 0 to 10: trust and licensing, games and markets, payments and payouts, bonuses and value, customer support and mobile experience. Trust carries the largest weight, followed by payments and games; bonuses deliberately carry the least, because a large welcome package says nothing about whether you will be paid. The weighted average is the overall score shown on every card below. A sportsbook that scores 9 for markets can be a mediocre casino, and a crypto casino with instant payouts may have no poker room at all. If you already know what you want to play, the category reviews re-rank these brands on the criteria that matter for that product.

What makes a score go up or down

Scores are not static. Between scheduled re-tests, the following events trigger a review and usually a change:

• Licence changes. A new licence from a stricter regulator raises the trust score; a suspended or lapsed licence removes the platform from the ranking until resolved.
• Payout performance. Measured withdrawal times are re-sampled at every re-test. A sustained slowdown or a pattern of unexplained verification requests lowers the payments score.
• Terms and conditions. Retroactive changes to bonus terms, new maximum-win caps or restrictions on winning players count against the bonuses and trust scores.
• Verified complaints. Player reports sent to contact@casinotrust.org are checked against the operator's response; confirmed non-payment can move a brand to the blacklist.
• Product launches. New poker software, added payment rails or a native app raise the relevant sub-score only once we have tested them.

We do not adjust scores for commercial reasons. Some links on brand pages are affiliate links, which is disclosed on every page; a platform cannot buy a higher position, and platforms we have no commercial relationship with are scored by the same protocol.
