A review tells you what one platform is like. A comparison tells you which one to pick. This hub puts every platform CasinoTrust has scored into a single table, then splits the comparison by vertical — sports betting, poker, online casino, crypto casino and prediction markets — because the criteria that matter change with what you play.

The score is our overall editorial rating out of 10, calculated with the fixed weights published in the Ranking Protocol. Payout speed is the median time from withdrawal request to funds arriving in our testers' wallets or bank accounts. 'KYC' shows whether a platform let us withdraw without identity documents: no means full verification before the first withdrawal, partial means documents are requested above a threshold or on risk triggers, yes means we withdrew without documents.
How to compare online casinos properly
Most comparison pages sort by the size of the welcome bonus. That is the wrong first filter, because a bonus you cannot withdraw has a value of zero. We compare in the order that protects your money: first whether you will be paid, then how fast, then what it costs, and only then what extras you get.
Start with the licence
A UK Gambling Commission or Malta Gaming Authority licence gives you a regulator that answers complaints and an alternative dispute-resolution body. A Curaçao licence gives you far less recourse — acceptable for a crypto casino you fund with small amounts, risky for a five-figure bankroll. Check the regulator's public register, not the footer logo.
Check the payout route, not the promise
Every operator claims fast withdrawals. Look at the slowest method you would realistically use, the daily and monthly withdrawal caps, and whether the terms allow the operator to pay large wins in instalments.
Read the KYC policy before depositing
Verification is not optional on licensed sites; the question is when it happens. Platforms that verify at sign-up are annoying but predictable. Platforms that verify at first withdrawal can freeze a balance for weeks if your documents do not match your deposit method.
Price the product
For casino games that means RTP and table limits; for sportsbooks, the overround on the markets you actually bet; for poker, the rake and rake cap; for prediction markets, the spread and the trading fee. Our academy explains how to calculate each one.
Only then weigh the bonus
Divide the bonus by the wagering requirement and multiply by the house edge of the games that count. A 100% bonus with 40x wagering on slots at 96% RTP costs roughly 1.6x the bonus amount in expected losses to clear. That is not a gift; it is a loan at negative interest.
The seven criteria in the table, explained
| Column | What we measure | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Score | Weighted 0–10 rating across trust, games, payments, bonuses, support and mobile | The single number if you only have time for one — but read the sub-scores on the brand page |
| Licence | Primary regulator(s) verified on the public register | Determines your legal recourse if a withdrawal is refused |
| Crypto | Whether BTC, ETH, USDT or other coins are accepted for deposits and withdrawals | Crypto withdrawals settle in minutes and avoid card blocks; volatility and network fees are the trade-off |
| Min deposit | Lowest deposit that unlocks real play (method dependent) | Matters for testing a site with small money before trusting it with more |
| Payout speed | Median measured time from request to receipt in our tests | The clearest proxy for how an operator treats winners |
| KYC | Whether documents were required before our first withdrawal | Predicts whether your first cash-out is smooth or stuck |
| Live chat | Human chat reachable without an account tier or ticket | Email-only support correlates strongly with slow dispute handling |
What the table cannot show
Three things decide real-world outcomes more than any column above. Jurisdiction: a platform that is excellent in Canada may be unlicensed and unreachable in your country, and using a VPN to access it usually voids your right to be paid. Limits: a sportsbook that restricts winning accounts to £5 stakes is useless to a sharp bettor whatever its score. Terms drift: bonus rules and withdrawal caps change without notice, which is why each brand page carries a last-tested date and our blacklist lists operators that changed terms retroactively.
Frequently asked questions
Which online casino is the safest overall?
On our current scores, bet365 ranks highest for trust because it holds UK Gambling Commission and Malta Gaming Authority licences plus national licences in several other markets. Betsson is close behind as a publicly listed MGA operator. Curaçao-licensed crypto casinos score well on payments but lower on trust because dispute resolution is weaker.
How do I compare casino payout speeds fairly?
Compare the same method across sites and look at the median, not the advertised minimum. Crypto withdrawals from Stake, BC.Game and BitStarz arrived within minutes in our tests; bank transfers from UKGC operators took one to five business days, which is normal and partly outside the operator's control.
Is a bigger welcome bonus better?
Rarely. Divide the bonus by its wagering requirement and apply the house edge of the eligible games. A smaller bonus with 20x wagering is usually worth more than a large one with 50x. Our poker, casino and sports comparisons show the bonus terms alongside the headline figure.
What does 'no KYC' actually mean on a crypto casino?
It means the platform did not ask for identity documents before our first withdrawal. It does not mean it never will: every licensed operator reserves the right to verify on risk triggers, large withdrawals or regulatory requests. Treat 'no KYC' as 'KYC deferred', and keep your documents ready.
Can I use these platforms from any country?
No. Each operator publishes a list of restricted territories in its terms, and using a VPN to bypass it typically voids winnings. Check the restricted-country list on the brand page and the operator's terms before depositing.
How often is this comparison updated?
Brand facts are re-verified on a rolling schedule and after any material event such as a licence change, payout backlog or new KYC policy. Each brand page shows its last-tested date; the table on this page reads from the same data, so it is never older than the newest brand update.
