CasinoTrust authors

Every review, ranking and guide on CasinoTrust is produced and signed off by a specialist desk. Here is who does what, and how to hold them to account.

By CasinoTrust Editorial TeamUpdated 4 min readFact-checked against the Ranking Protocol

Expertise in gambling is specific. Someone who can price a sportsbook's overround is not automatically qualified to judge poker rake structures or a casino's RNG certificate. CasinoTrust is therefore organised into five desks, each responsible for its own vertical, each working under the same Ranking Protocol and Editorial Policy.

Accountability works the same way across desks: a named human editor approves every page, test evidence is retained for every score, and a second editor re-scores from the same evidence before publication. If a page is wrong, the desk that signed it fixes it — see the corrections route in our editorial policy.

The editorial desks

Editorial Desk — Casino & Slots

Online casino and crypto casino reviews, game fairness, RTP verification

Tests online casinos and crypto casinos with real deposits and timed withdrawals, checks every licence against the regulator's register, and verifies published RTPs against game-provider documentation. Reads bonus terms clause by clause and calculates the expected value of every welcome offer before it is scored. Maintains the roulette, blackjack and baccarat academy sections and checks the house-edge maths behind the calculators.

Expertise: Online casino testing · Slot RTP and volatility · Live dealer games · Bonus term analysis · RNG certification (eCOGRA, GLI, iTech Labs) · House-edge mathematics

Editorial Desk — Poker

Poker room reviews, rake analysis, tournament and cash-game strategy

Plays cash games and tournaments on every reviewed room at peak and off-peak hours to measure real traffic, then audits rake, fees and rakeback against the published schedule. Verifies RNG certificates and game-integrity policies, including bot and collusion enforcement. Writes and checks the poker academy, from hand rankings to ICM, and maintains the ICM calculator.

Expertise: Poker room testing · Rake and rakeback · Tournament structures and ICM · Game integrity and bot policy · Cash-game and MTT strategy · Poker software and HUD policies

Editorial Desk — Sports Betting & Prediction Markets

Sportsbook reviews, odds pricing, prediction-market mechanics

Measures overround on major and minor markets, tests in-play latency and bet-slip stability, and records limit and account-restriction behaviour after winning bets. For prediction markets, audits resolution sources, liquidity, fees and the regulatory regime governing event contracts. Verifies sportsbook licences in each market the operator serves, not just the headquarters jurisdiction.

Expertise: Sportsbook testing · Overround and odds pricing · In-play betting and cash-out · Account restrictions and limits · Prediction-market resolution and liquidity · Event-contract regulation

Editorial Desk — Crypto & Payments

Payment and payout testing, crypto networks, KYC processes

Runs every timed deposit and withdrawal in the protocol across cards, bank transfer, e-wallets and at least two crypto networks per platform, recording fees, spreads against mid-market rates and confirmation times on-chain. Documents KYC flows from first request to approval, flags re-verification after wins, and tests whether limits and self-exclusion can be completed on mobile. Maintains the payments criteria in the Ranking Protocol.

Expertise: Withdrawal timing methodology · Crypto networks and stablecoins · Payment fees and FX spreads · KYC and AML processes · Provably-fair verification · No-KYC platform risk

Compliance & Responsible Gambling Desk

Licence verification, blacklist investigations, responsible gambling, editorial complaints

Checks every licence claim against the regulator's public register and tracks enforcement notices, suspensions and ownership changes. Runs blacklist investigations under the published process, verifies player complaints with evidence, and tests responsible-gambling tools on every platform: deposit limits, reality checks and self-exclusion. Maintains the helpline directory and handles complaints about CasinoTrust's own content independently of the other desks.

Expertise: Regulator registers and licence tiers · Blacklist investigation · Responsible-gambling tools · Self-exclusion schemes (GamStop, Spelpaus, ROFUS, OASIS, BetStop) · ADR and regulator complaints · Editorial complaints handling

How desks work together

  • Cross-desk scoring. A brand page such as Stake or bet365 is scored by its vertical desk, with the payments dimension supplied by the Crypto & Payments Desk and the trust dimension verified by the Compliance Desk.
  • Second-editor rule. No score is published until a second editor has re-scored from the same test evidence; differences above 0.5 in any dimension are resolved first.
  • Independent complaints. The Compliance Desk handles complaints about our content and does not produce rankings, so it has no score to defend.
  • Shared standards. All desks use the same Ranking Protocol, the same sourcing rules and the same AI-usage disclosure set out in the Editorial Policy.

What our authors do not do

  • Accept payment, hospitality or equity from any operator, game studio or affiliate network they cover.
  • See commission rates or commercial agreements before publishing a score.
  • Share drafts with operators before publication.
  • Publish figures — bonus amounts, RTPs, licence numbers — they have not verified against a primary source.
  • Tell you that you will win. Every game in the academy is explained with its house edge.

Contact the desks

Corrections, tips, evidence for a blacklist investigation, media requests (see the press kit) and questions about our responsible gambling resources all go to the same address.
