A "casino review" means one thing to somebody staking an NPFL and Premier League accumulator on Saturday, another thing to a poker grinder, and something else again to a player funding an account with USDT because the naira card route failed. So we do not publish one ranking. We publish six, each scored on the criteria that decide that particular product, and each built from the same brand data you can inspect on our brand guide pages.
| Category | Covers | Heaviest weightings |
|---|---|---|
| Sports betting | Bookmakers, exchanges, in-play betting | Overround (margin), market depth, cash-out, limits policy, payout speed |
| Poker room reviews | Cash games, tournaments, fast-fold | Rake and rake cap, traffic by stake and hour, software, tournament guarantees |
| Online casino | Slots, live dealer, table games | Licence tier, published RTP, game library and providers, withdrawal time |
| Crypto casino | Casinos accepting BTC, ETH, stablecoins | Coin support, provably fair games, on-chain withdrawal speed, KYC policy |
| Prediction market | Event contracts on politics, sport, culture | Liquidity and spreads, fees, resolution process, regulatory status |
| No-KYC crypto casino | Crypto casinos with threshold-based verification | Actual verification triggers, withdrawal caps, dispute route, licence |
How the six review categories are put together
One platform can show up in several categories — Stake, for instance, is ranked as a crypto casino, an online casino, a sportsbook and a poker room — but where it lands in each list comes from category-specific weighting, not one global number. Below is what each category covers and what actually moves the needle inside it.
How a CasinoTrust review is produced
The process does not change between a Nasdaq-listed bookmaker and a two-year-old crypto casino. The full version lives in the Ranking Protocol; this is the short one.
Licence and ownership check
We look up the operating company on the regulator's register (UKGC, MGA, Curaçao GCB, state regulators) and confirm the licence covers the products and territories the site advertises. Platforms with no licence are not scored; they go into the blacklist review queue instead. For Nigerian readers we also note where the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) or a state lotteries board fits in, and where a site is simply offshore and accessible.
Real-money test accounts
Testers register from the markets the platform targets, fund the account with at least two methods — naira bank transfer or a Paystack- or Flutterwave-powered card rail where it exists, plus crypto — and play long enough to trigger normal account behaviour: bonus wagering, limit changes, a support ticket.
Timed withdrawals
Every withdrawal is timed from the moment we press request to the moment the money lands, including any verification step it sets off. The figure on each brand page is a measured median, not what the operator claims in its adverts.
Six-dimension scoring
Trust & licensing, games & markets, payments & payouts, bonuses & value, support and mobile are each scored 0–10. Category pages re-weight those dimensions — payments count for more at crypto casinos, trust counts for more at sportsbooks sitting on client funds for weeks.
Scheduled re-testing
Every score carries a last-tested date and is refreshed on a rolling schedule. A licence change, a payout backlog or a terms change that hurts players triggers an out-of-cycle review.
What our reviews will tell you — and what they will not
- Which licence actually governs your account, and where you take a complaint when things go wrong
- How long withdrawals really took in our tests, method by method — bank transfer is not the same as an on-chain payout
- What sets off identity verification, and which documents were asked for
- The true cost of a bonus once wagering, game weighting and maximum-stake rules are applied
- Where a platform is genuinely strong — market depth, rake structure, game library — and where it is weak
What we will not do: quote an RTP or bonus figure we have not seen ourselves on the live site, rank by commission, or dress up a 7.4 as a 9. A low-scoring brand stays in the list with its score showing, because a player choosing between a handful of options still needs to see how those options compare. Our Editorial Policy explains how advertising is kept away from scoring.

How to read a review before you deposit
Start with the licence line and the KYC label, because those two decide what happens on the day you try to withdraw a big win. Then look at payout speed for the method you will genuinely use — a "minutes" figure for crypto tells you nothing about how a naira bank transfer will behave over a weekend. Bonuses come last; a welcome package is the least durable thing about any platform and the most heavily advertised. One more Nigerian detail: check how heavy the site is on mobile data, because a live-dealer lobby that reloads every few minutes will finish your bundle before it finishes your session. If any of these products are new to you, the Academy covers the maths first, and bankroll management is where to start no matter what you play.
Frequently asked questions
Are CasinoTrust reviews really independent?
Yes. Scores come from a published Ranking Protocol and cannot be bought. Some outbound links are affiliate links and are labelled as sponsored; that income does not move a platform's score or its place in a ranking, as our Editorial Policy sets out.
How often do you refresh the reviews?
Every brand is re-tested on a rolling schedule and shows a last-tested date. Anything material — a licence change, a payout backlog, a new verification policy — triggers an immediate re-review instead of waiting for the next cycle.
Why does one brand sit in different positions on different pages?
Because each category re-weights the same six dimensions. A crypto casino ranking leans on payments and coin support; a sportsbook ranking leans on margins and trust. A brand can be excellent at one job and ordinary at the other.
Can players in Nigeria use the platforms you review?
We record the licences each platform holds and the markets it targets, but availability from Nigeria varies by operator and changes without notice — always check availability from Nigeria yourself before you register, and confirm the site is permitted to serve players here.
What is the difference between a review page and a comparison page?
Review pages explain how we rank a category and discuss each platform in prose. Comparison pages drop the same platforms into a sortable table — licence, founded date, payment methods, KYC, payout speed and more — so you can filter on whatever matters to you.
